TENS of thousands of students protested against Britain’s failing higher education system in a national day of action today.
The National Union of Students (NUS) estimated that between 700,000 and 800,000 students responded in towns and cities including Liverpool, Manchester, Blackpool, Sheffield and Leeds.
Many joined picket lines alongside lecturers striking in defence of pay, pensions and working conditions.
