German stadiums to be rainbow coloured after Uefa deny DFB request for Allianz Arena

GERMAN clubs have committed to lighting up their stadiums tonight after Uefa’s decision not to allow the Allianz Arena to do the same.

Germany’s final European Championship group game against Hungary takes place tonight and Munich’s city council had applied to Uefa to illuminate the stadium in colours in solidarity with Pride month.

However, the governing body said in a statement today that while it understands the intention behind the proposal, it “must decline this request” because of its political context — “a message aiming at a decision taken by the Hungarian national parliament.”
