Former Jihadist base discovered near site of disputed chemical weapons attack, Syrian army claims
US missiles head to Syria after a disputed chemical weapons attack in 2017

THE Syrian army claimed on Tuesday to have uncovered a former jihadist military base near the site of a disputed 2017 chemical weapon attack and subsequent US military retaliation.

In April 2017 Washington launched 59 Tomahawk missiles at  the Shurayat air strip as US President Donald Trump blamed his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad for a chemical attack nearby.

Mr Assad dismissed claims he had used sarin against his own people as “100 per cent untrue” while the Russian government also insisted it was a fabrication.
