Campaigners: ‘It’s high time for a four-day working week’
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon during First Minster's Questions (FMQ's) in the debating chamber of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh

THE Scottish government has been urged by trade unions and campaigners to move to a four-day working week in response to the pandemic.

The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) and other groups are calling on First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to introduce a subsidy for companies which switch to a 32-hour working week with no loss of pay.

They point to a pilot scheme in Spain where similar proposals have been backed by government funding.
