Fabulous Pogba puts United back on top
Manchester United's Paul Pogba celebrates scoring his side's second goal against Fulham

Fulham 1-2 Manchester United

A FABULOUS Paul Pogba strike sent Manchester United back to the top of the Premier League on a cold windy night on the banks of the Thames.

Remarkably it was the seventh away game of the season in which Untied came back from behind to win. And the first game that Fulham have lost this season when they have been leading.

It was a rosy start to the game for the home side who took the lead after five minutes. Ademola Lookman beat the offside trap from Andre-Frank Anguissa and slotted home, while the United backline waited for a flag.

The goal proved to be a red rag to United’s bull. The away side upped the tempo as they searched for an equaliser. Bruno Fernandes hit the post with an effort from the edge of the box.

On 21 minutes Fulham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola fumbled Bruno Fernandes’s cross into the path of Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan has made a fabulous career out of eating these sorts of meat-and-potato chances.

The second half was a more even contest, with United looking the more likely to break the deadlock. The moment of magic came from Pogba, who has hit a fine run of form recently, and he curled a left-footed strike perfectly into the corner of the net from outside the area.

It was then United’s chance to be a little nervy, but Fulham couldn’t convert the half-chances that came Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s way.

In this exciting, unpredictable season United were the third side in 24 hours to hit the league summit. For Fulham, their next two away league games against relegation rivals Brighton and West Brom will be real six-pointers.
