Javid's plan to increase national living wage ‘will fool nobody,’ says McDonnell
Labour's shadow chancellor said his Tory counterpart's plan was a ‘pathetic attempt at catch up’
Sajid Javid emerges from behind a blue door at the Tory Party conference in Manchester today to deliver his speech

CHANCELLOR Sajid Javid’s plan to increase the so-called National Living Wage is a “pathetic attempt at catch up,” shadow chancellor John McDonnell said today.

During his keynote Conservative Party conference speech, Mr Javid announced his “ambitious plan” to raise the National Living Wage (NLA) to £10.50 per hour over the next five years.

The age threshold for the NLW will also be lowered from 25 to 21 to reward “hard-working millenials,” he added.
