GOALKEEPERS will not receive a yellow card for encroachment during a penalty shoot-out in the knockout stages of the Women’s World Cup, the International Football Association Board (IFAB) has announced.
IFAB has approved a request from Fifa for temporary dispensation for what are described as “kicks from the penalty mark,” or shoot-outs.
The law currently states that “if the goalkeeper commits an offence and, as a result, the kick is retaken, the goalkeeper must be cautioned.”
