Alvarez stuns Golovkin in controversial fashion
Canelo Alvarez (left) of Mexico, lands a punch on WBC/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, of Khazakstan, during their title boxing fight in Las Vegas, last night

CANELO ALVAREZ won his rematch with Gennady Golovkin last night by majority decision, muddying the waters further.

In their previous bout, ruled a split draw, the majority of fans and pundits scored the contest in favour of Golovkin or close either way, but highly controversial judge Adelaide Bird scored widely in favour of Canelo.

This time around, despite lots at ringside scoring the contest for Golovkin again, the Mexican won by narrow margins of 113-115, 114-114 and 113-115.
