At least 10 dead as gunman targets Cairo churchgoers

AT LEAST 10 people were killed today, eight of them Coptic Christians, by a gunman who opened fire outside a Cairo church.

Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said the attack outside the Coptic church of Mar Mina left at least one policeman dead and five others wounded, including two critically.

He also said the assailant was killed in the shoot-out, though the Interior Ministry said he had been wounded and then arrested in possession of “an explosive device.”
