Aslef go ahead with strike after talks fail

TALKS between disgraced Southern Rail and drivers’ union Aslef collapsed yesterday, meaning workers will go ahead with a planned 24-hour strike today.

The two parties met for a second day at conciliation service Acas to try to break a deadlock over driver-only trains.

An Aslef spokesman confirmed that “no progress was made,” but that the “door remains open for future talks.”
