Tube workers set to walk out over ‘dangerous’ staff cuts
TUBE workers are set for strike action in the new year in a bid to block bosses’ dangerous plans to sack 900 front-line staff, unions announced yesterday.
RMT and TSSA will stage a 24-hour stoppage from 6pm on Sunday January 8 in the ongoing row over ticket office closures and job cuts.
TSSA general secretary Manuel Cortes said: “Our members are fed up of being made scapegoats for passenger frustrations with the new — and failing — ticket-vending machines.”
