LABOUR leader Jeremy Corbyn has shown “courageous” leadership over Brexit and would back a “sensible British compromise” on the issue, shadow chancellor McDonnell said yesterday.
He said on the BBC One Andrew Marr show that Mr Corbyn and Labour had a clear position in that the referendum result should be honoured and that the party would not defy the process of Britain leaving the EU.
Labour would seek to understand both sides of the debate and also fight for a Brexit that protects jobs, wages and living standards over a so-called “hard Brexit” that would see Britain becoming a tax haven, he added.
