Southern bosses start fresh talks with Aslef

BOSSES at Southern Rail will meet for talks with drivers’ union Aslef today.

The negotiations, at a secret location, come after a compromise to end the long-running dispute over driver-only trains was thrown out in a union ballot.

Drivers voted 54 per cent to 46 per cent against a deal which would have meant their adoption of all operational duties in exchange for a tougher safety regime and limited assurances over providing a second member of onboard staff.
