THE woman who said she bore the love child of Bolivian President Evo Morales has debunked the story, admitting she was used as part of an opposition smear campaign.

Mr Morales’s ex-girlfriend Gabriela Zapata said in an interview that she had lied at the bidding of opposition National Unity Front leader Samuel Doria Medina.

Movement for Socialism leader Mr Morales accepted claims that he had fathered a child, said to have died shortly after birth in 2007.
