Ireland: Sinn Fein calls for EU ban on scandal-struck Brazilian meat

IRISH Republicans voiced their beef with Brazil yesterday over imports of rotten meat.

Sinn Fein Dail member Martin Kenny demanded a Europewide ban on beef imports in the wake of the Operation Weak Flesh police swoop in Brazil on Saturday, which found dozens of meatpacking firms were bribing health inspectors to overlook shipments of date-expired meat.

The firms, including global giants JBS and BRF, reportedly used chemicals to hide the appearance and stink of rotten meat.
