PKK admits bombing that claimed three lives

KURDISTAN Workers Party (PKK) fighters claimed responsibility yesterday for Tuesday’s bomb attack on a police station in Diyarbakir that killed three people.

Authorities initially said that the explosion, which killed a police officer and two civilian employees, occured during repairs to an armoured vehicle. However, they later claimed it was a terrorist attack.

The PKK, considered a terrorist organisation by the Turkish government, said in a written statement that its fighters had planted two and a half tons of explosives in tunnels under the complex.
