Tory-imposed ‘2 parliaments of pain’
AGONISING Tory spending cuts have barely put a dent in the deficit, experts at the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) revealed yesterday.
And shadow chancellor John McDonnell was scathing in his condemnation of the Conservatives’ handling of finances.
The government would have to raise taxes and slash spending by £15 billion — in addition to cost-cutting measures already planned by ministers — to eliminate the deficit by 2022, the new IFS report warned.
