THE government pressed ahead yesterday with controversial plans to devolve responsibility for supermarket Sunday opening hours despite widespread opposition.
Shopworkers, small retailers, independent stores and many supermarkets have opposed Tory plans to hand decision making over Sunday opening to more than 300 local authorities.
But the government has said it will be including its amendment to the Enterprise Bill on Sunday Trading, devolving responsibility.
