Syria: UN council reaffirms illegality of Israel’s Golan Heights claim

THE UN security council has rejected Israel’s assertion that it will forever retain Syria’s Golan Heights, which it has occupied since 1967.
Chinese ambassador Liu Jieyi, who holds this month’s council presidency, said that the body had agreed on Tuesday that the status of the Golan remained unchanged.
