Ucatt Conference: Builders vote to unite with Unite after financial losses
BUILDERS voted for a merger with general union Unite yesterday following a series of financial difficulties in their own union.
Construction union Ucatt’s biennial conference heard that recent losses of over £5 million had forced it to seek a “transfer.”
Dartford delegate Terry Harbour said he was “full of sadness” at his union’s demise, but warned: “The simple fact is that if we carry on as an independent union, we will run out of money this time next year.”
