VENEZUELA’S right-wing Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) has fallen just short of a two-thirds “supermajority,” late parliamentary election results showed on Monday.
The updated results from the National Electoral Council gave the US-backed MUD coalition 107 confirmed seats in the 167-member National Assembly.
The Great Patriotic Pole alliance, which includes President Nicolas Maduro’s United Socialist Party (PSUV), was left with just 55 seats in Sunday’s election, almost halving its share from 99 in the 2010 election.
