Kurds recapture villages

KURDISH forces and their allies have recaptured a belt of villages around Kobane from Islamic State (Isis) forces, senior Kurdish official Anwar Muslim said today.

Mr Muslim said that the Kurdish fighters had secured an area six to nine miles in diameter around Kobane.

Kurdish officials are seeking international funds to rebuild Kobane because “we liberated the city but most of it is destroyed,” Mr Muslim said.
