Syria government troops end Aleppo prison seige after a year
Troops loyal to Assad government enter beseiged Aleppo prison following aerial bombardment
Syrian forces broke a year-long rebel siege of Aleppo’s central prison yesterday.
Government troops entered the complex at dawn after an hours-long air barrage which saw more than 100 barrel bombs hit the area around the prison.
The Nusra Front and other Islamist groups began besieging the prison in April 2013.
