MEN’S FOOTBALL:

Kylian Mbappe netted his 60th Champions League goal and moved to sixth in the leading scorers list after netting a hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 5-0 win at Kairat Almaty. He still needs another 80 to overhaul top-dog Cristiano Ronaldo.

Harry Kane, the highest placed Briton, sits 17th with 44 goals, level with Didier Drogba, following his double against Pafos FC. Erling Haaland is 9th, but has the best goals per game ratio.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION:

Defending champions Newport are still looking for their first Super Rygbi Cymru Trophy win of the season when they visit Swansea tomorrow evening, just five days after narrowly losing out 42-40 to the same opposition.

Table-topping Ebbw Vale, who were last year’s runners-up, take their 100 per cent record to Cardiff on Saturday when fellow undefeated club Llandovery will host North Wales’ RGC.

HORSE RACING:

With just over a fortnight to go, four-time champion jockey on the flat Oisin Murphy has a comfortable 35 winner lead over second-placed Billy Loughnane, 2023’s top apprentice.

Killarney-born Murphy also has the best strike-rate at 24 per cent, with 130 wins from 553 rides.

Hollie Doyle is the top-ranked woman jockey with 48 winners, currently six ahead of Saffie Osborne and 12 clear of Joanna Mason.

MEN’S FOOTBALL:

Crystal Palace kick off their Europa Conference League phase fixtures tomorrow evening with a trip to two-time Cup Winners’ Cup champions Dynamo Kiev.

Aberdeen, who won the same trophy in 1983, host Shakhtar Donetsk while Dublin’s Shelbourne meet Gothenburg-based Hacken and Shamrock Rovers are at Sparta Prague.

1990’s Uefa Cup runners-up Fiorentina start their campaign against Czech minnows Sigma Olomouc.
