WINNER! Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar

SPEEDWAY: Reigning world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik won the fifth round of this year’s competition on a wet track in Wroclaw on Sunday evening to take a three-point lead over Brady Kurtz. Norwich’s Robert Lambert sits third, 14 points behind Kurtz.

World number five Jack Holder crashed out with Jason Doyle in heat seven and could take no further part in the racing. Malilla in southern Sweden hosts next month’s sixth leg.

CYCLING: Tadej Pogacar claimed a third stage win on Sunday to seal his first ever Tour de Suisse title by over six and a half minutes from second-placed Richard Carapaz. Finlay Pickering was the highest placed Briton, 12 minutes off the pace in 13th.

Defending champion Marlen Reusser also took the final stage to win the women’s race for the second successive year, finishing 90 seconds clear of Cedrine Kerbaol.

MEN’S GOLF: American Wyndham Clark led from the first day to win his second US Open title late on Sunday evening at Shinnecock Hills, New York.

Compatriot Sam Burns was a point behind in second with South Korea’s Joo Hyung Kim two shots further back in third. They were the only three players to card an under-par tournament score.

Rory McIlroy was 10 shots back in joint 32nd place with Tyrell Hatton the highest placed Briton in seventh.

HOCKEY: England’s women slipped to the bottom of the FIH Pro League as they lost both legs of their double-header against fellow strugglers Australia over the weekend. After going down 3-0 on Saturday the English lost out on penalties in Sunday’s rematch.

England’s men moved up to second, behind runaway leaders Belgium, after brushing aside Australia 3-1 and needing penalties to edge out Argentina following a 1-1 draw.
