US gymnast McKayla Maroney names team doctor as rapist

LONDON 2012 Olympic gold medallist McKayla Maroney has alleged she was sexually assaulted by former US national gymnastics team doctor Dr Larry Nassar when she was a child.

Maroney posted a lengthy and detailed account online, saying she felt inspired to open up about her experiences after public allegations by actors against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

She named Nassar as her alleged abuser, saying incidents had taken place from the age of 13 when she attended a national team training camp in Texas.
