Terrorist Osborne deserves to spend decades behind bars

FAR-RIGHT terrorist Darren Osborne’s 43-year jail sentence for killing and maiming Muslims in London last June is fully merited.

Its severity may persuade other social inadequates tempted to emulate his Islamophobic carnage to reflect on the consequences of such a crime.

Osborne is distinguished by little more than his utter banality. He will serve time that others who fashioned the bullets for him to fire can avoid.

His obsessive internet searches for the rantings of various purveyors of poison was assisted by the refusal of the transnational corporations that provide social media services to remove the most vile posts designed to incite hatred against Muslims.

These internet companies’ insouciance to the consequences of their irresponsibility is matched by the alacrity of TV stations to give the oxygen of publicity to one far-right loudmouth, as though an interview with him could prove enlightening or helpful.

Treating far-right terrorism as less serious than its jihadist equivalent is unacceptable.
