Scottish government branded ‘shameful’ over missing Covid Whatsapps

THE SNP-Green Scottish government’s handling of disappearing Covid-19 Whatsapp messages has been branded “shameful” by a spokeswoman for the Covid bereaved.

The row erupted last week when the Scottish government’s counsel to the inquiry confirmed that “no messages” had yet been passed by them to the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, despite having two years to prepare.

But this appears to have been contradicted by deputy first minister Shona Robison, who told Holyrood today that messages had in fact been passed to the inquiry, but that an additional 14,000 could only be provided if the inquiry met the Scottish government request to be served with a section 21 order to compel the release.
