PALESTINE: Two men killed by Israeli troops today were identified by Hamas as members. Israeli soldiers were raiding the Tulkarem refugee camp in the illegally occupied West Bank when they shot the men in a gunfight, according to the Israeli Defence Forces.

BRAZIL: The fatal shooting of three doctors and wounding of a fourth in the early hours today may have been politically motivated, police say. Security camera footage shows black-clad men emerge from a car and gun down the men at a beachside table in Rio de Janeiro, where the doctors were attending an orthopaedics conference. One of the dead was brother to a socialist congresswoman, Samia Bomfim.

SYRIA: Some army officers and civilians were killed today in a drone attack on an officers’ graduating ceremony in Homs.
The Syrian army did not say how many were killed but said others, including women and children, were in critical condition and it would “respond with full force.” The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said seven officers were killed.

ARMENIA: The country’s ambassador to Israel has complained that Tel Aviv helped arm the Azerbaijani army for its conquest of Nagorno-Karabakh last month. The 120,000 Armenian residents of the enclave, which had governed itself for nearly 30 years, have almost all fled to Armenia. Ambassador Arman Akopian said it was a “major concern” that Israel was arming the Azerbaijani military, which is suspected of having further territorial ambitions.
