War
By JULIE McNEILL

There are too many moments
that we forget
that there is a war

that bombs and shells
and the dead fall
elsewhere.

My son asks
if he will be put on a train
if he will be sent to a camp

if he will have to wear a star
and leave us
I say to him no

not today
not yet
not us.
