SPEEDWAY: Premiership table-toppers Belle Vue Aces brushed aside their injury concerns to thump bottom-of-the-table Northampton Foxes 57-33 on Monday evening in Manchester.

Substitute Zach Cook top-scored with 13+2 points from six rides, more than doubling his match average, and captain Brady Kurtz weighed in with another 12. The Aces lead second-placed Leicester, who have two games in hand, by seven points.

COMMONWEALTH GAMES: Three-time Olympic gold medallist Max Whitlock, who has also won three World Championship titles, will miss this month’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after suffering a hand injury while training.

The Hemel Hempstead-born 33-year-old is the most successful British gymnast ever and the best pommel horse athlete in Olympic history. Whitlock’s haul of 10 Commonwealth Games medals includes four golds.

MEN’S CRICKET: Left-arm spinner Jayden Lennox took 5-19 as New Zealand skittled the West Indies for 138 and won today’s one-day international by five wickets.

The series is level at 1-1 after the Windies cruised to a seven-wicket win in the first match. The Kiwis are ranked as the world’s second-best 50-over team, eight places above the Windies.

Thursday’s third match of the five-game series will also be played in Guyana.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: The Llanelli-based Scarlets became the final regional team to sign Wales’s Professional Rugby Agreement on Monday, more than a year after it was first presented.

The deal guarantees all four of the nation’s professional sides will remain in place until at least June 2028.

Last season, the Scarlets lost all four Champions Cup group games, finished third from bottom in the United Rugby Championship and last in the Welsh Shield.
